Craniosacral Therapy in the Upstate SC

Serving Greenville, Spartanburg, and the Upstate.

The beautiful plant filled treatment room.

“When we began our session, she was such a wonderful guide and very respectful of any boundaries and attentive to how light her touch was, she listened well to my body and helped guide me through processing and releasing especially as my muscles and fascia were so tight and hesitant to relaxation. She put a lot of thorough work into my problem area, and the layers of tension melted away. By the end of my session, not only had the pain completely subsided, but my range of motion was better than it was even prior to the injury that I was dealing with.

I wish I could’ve experienced CST sooner now seeing how transformative it is, and how masterful Julie is at being a guide. I highly recommend her, and will undoubtedly be going back!” —

“This was my first time getting CST and I cannot recommend it enough! Between the relaxing environment and Julie’s care in explaining the process as she went and making sure I was comfortable. Julie’s space had a waterfall element that elevated the whole experience. I left feeling rejuvenated and all-together like a whole new person. She alleviated a lot of my chronic pain, and made me feel safe and completely relaxed. I definitely will be booking with her again!” —Jaclyn, Google Review

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on practice that supports the body’s natural balance, mobility, and self-regulation through light, attentive touch. This work is often blended with somatic bodywork.

Some people look for craniosacral therapy as cranial sacral therapy or cranial sacral massage. What I offer is light-touch CST, not a typical massage. Sessions are fully clothed.

CST has its origins in osteopathic medicine and was developed in the 1970s by osteopathic physician Dr. John E. Upledger. During his research and clinical work at Michigan State University, Dr. Upledger observed a subtle, rhythmic motion in the structures surrounding the central nervous system. He built CST around this observation, describing a craniosacral system that includes the brain, spinal cord, cerebrospinal fluid, the membranes that enclose them, the bones of the skull, the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine), and the body’s fascia—the connective tissue that links and supports muscles, organs, nerves, and other structures.

Somatic bodywork complements CST by expanding the focus to the broader patterns of tension, sensation, and nervous system responses held throughout the body’s soft tissues. It draws from body-centered approaches that emphasize awareness of physical sensations, posture, movement habits, and the way the body stores and expresses stress or trauma. Together, CST and somatic bodywork create an integrated practice that addresses both the specific craniosacral rhythm and the wider landscape of the body. You may choose to just receive a craniosacral session or weave in the somatic bodywork as well.

Practitioners apply very light touch—typically no more than 5 grams of pressure—to assess and gently address restrictions or compressions in the craniosacral system, fascia, and other soft tissues. The contact is noninvasive, with no forceful movements or deep pressure. The approach aims to help normalize subtle rhythms, ease held tension patterns, and support the body’s inherent ability to self-correct and maintain equilibrium.

Disruptions to these systems—whether from physical stress, injury, postural influences, or other factors—can sometimes contribute to widespread tension or reduced function. By facilitating gentle release in the craniosacral system and the body’s soft tissues, this combined work promotes improved fluid flow, nervous system regulation, and overall ease.

At Harmony At Last, sessions tailored to each person. If you’re interested in learning more about how this gentle approach might support you, a free 15-minute consultation is a simple way to start—we can discuss your questions and see if it aligns with what you’re seeking.

What Can I Expect in a Craniosacral Therapy Session?

During your session you are fully clothed. You’ll lie comfortably on a treatment table while the practitioner uses very light touch—often just the weight of a nickel—to gently listen to and support your body’s subtle rhythms and patterns.

The work focuses on the craniosacral system (brain, spinal cord, membranes, cerebrospinal fluid, skull bones, sacrum, and fascia) and broader somatic areas (soft tissues and nervous system responses). Through attentive, noninvasive contact on areas like the head, neck, spine, sacrum, or other parts of the body, the practitioner helps identify and gently ease restrictions or held tension.

There’s no forceful pressure, manipulation, or deep work—just soft, steady holding that invites your body to release at its own pace. Sessions are designed to feel safe and restorative.
